Frequently asked questions
Common questions about acupuncture and cupping in Nyack. Don't see yours? Call (845) 398-1312.
What makes Marie’s approach different from a typical acupuncturist?
Marie is a licensed acupuncturist who blends traditional Chinese medicine — acupuncture points, meridians and theory — with Western physical medicine. Her distinctive method uses myofascial lines for pain management and muscle release, so she treats the root of tension and imbalance rather than only the symptom. It’s the best of both Eastern and Western approaches in one visit.
Does acupuncture hurt?
No. Acupuncture needles are very slender and fine — about the size of a cat whisker. You may or may not feel an initial prick, sometimes described as a mosquito bite. Any mild sensation fades quickly. Most patients find acupuncture deeply relaxing.
What conditions can acupuncture help with?
Acupuncture supports pain relief (back, neck, sciatica, shoulders, joints), headaches and migraines, allergies, asthma, anxiety, depression, digestive issues, fertility, hormonal balance, and the effects of stress and aging. Marie treats the whole person, not just the symptom.
Is cupping therapy painful?
Cupping causes the skin to temporarily redden and, in some cases, a purplish discoloration where the cup was placed. It is rarely painful and the discoloration fades after a few days. Cupping is often described as a deep, releasing sensation.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. Marie will submit a bill to your insurance company on your behalf for eligible treatments. Call (845) 398-1312 to ask about coverage, rates and your specific plan.
Where is the practice located?
The Acupuncture Center is at 196 Main Street, Nyack, NY 10960 — in the heart of Nyack, easily reached from Rockland County and the surrounding area.
What are your hours?

I’m nervous about needles — will Marie be patient with me?
Absolutely. Marie takes time to explain the process, assess your needs, and make you comfortable. Many first-time patients are nervous, and she is known for putting people at ease from the very first visit.
